Scene 8 of Lily sitting up in bed. We had a limited amount of space in this location which caused trouble as we could only fit one actress and the Cameraman in the room. This meant that he had to keep an eye on continuity. We had to make sure in each shot that she sat up, laid down and moved around at the same time in the same place. Also, when she pulled the pillow into her head, Danah had to make sure that it looked the same; her hands were in the same place, she pulled the pillow over in the same way and at the same time and pace.

For Scene 2.1, we had to make sure that enough of Lily's head and shoulder was shown to show significance. Unfortuanetely we couldn't see the items that Leon was picking up in this shot as the location wasn't large enough and the height of Lily's shoulders and the side table were too different in height.
Therefore we created an extra shot which was an extreme close up of Leon picking up his belongings.
We had to film in the evening as the house was too light during the day. There was a blind in the middle of the staircase that still let light through even though we covered it with black paper. This was an issue for us throughout filming as in alot of shots, that window/blind could be seen.
Scene 5.1, we had to make sure again that the camera was in the correct position so
that Lily's shoulder could be seen. We also needed to include the set design of clothes over the floor in this scene so the audience could notice the change in the messy room when Leon still lived there, to the end where the mother's tidyed it up. Also the panning had to be smooth instead of jolty.

Scene 3.1 & 2, we had to keep an eye out for continuity here as we needed both Leon and Lily to end on the same foot as they were coming down the stairs to what they started with in shot 2. We also had to make sure that Leon came down the stairs after Lily on the opposite side of the stairs at the right time; so it was delayed as if Leon had turned his music off and had enough time to walk down the stairs.
Scene 6.1, again the pan needed to be smooth and the camera had to be far enough away from Lily to see the whole movement from her walking down the stairs to her entering the living room. Space was an issue in the downstairs hallway as we had to fit the tripod with a camera on and the lighting in a small area.

Scene 9.1, we filmed during the evening because of lighting issues. The light would have come through the clear panel in the door if we had filmed it during the day. A pro light was used here as it had a softer tone to the colour to make it seem like night-time. We also put on a blue gel, as the situation was worsening, it gave a cold and dark feeling to the scene.
We then shot scene 11 which was done quite quickly as the camera could stay in the same position and the actress was spot on with stage directions.
However, scene 10 caused alot of problems. The kitchen was a very small location so this meant that only the two actors and two crew members could be in the room. A tripod couldn't fit in the room in the shot reverse shot shots so handheld shots were used. We had planned to use the Pro Lights but as they couldn't fit in the room we had to use the kitche
n ceiling lights, which gave a natualistic feeling. Also we had technical problems with the sound as the microphone kept cutting out so a few shots were without sound and others we had to shot once instead of a few to pick out of. Having these problems took up alot of time and added stress as this was one of the important scenes of the film.

m we really had was that it was sunny one minute and then it would get darker the next.
For scene 15.1 and 2 we had to make sure that Lily was in the same position so that when the camera came back out after the close up of Leon's clothes, the continuity would be right.
Scene 14 gave us problems as two of the actors had a bit of trouble keeping a serious face on and they sometimes forgot their lines. We had to make sure that there was little or no background noise when the camera and microphone was outside. Also as the mother wa
s a quite tall actress and Inspector Armstrong was down some steps, Danah found it difficult to position the camera so that Michael was in the correct place in shot. It was one of the longest scenes which did take a while to do.Scene 16 only had one shot so it was quick to do, we just had to make sure the pan shot was smooth and that Lily was in shot at all times.
Scene 17 had quite a few shots and we had some difficulties about how the actress was to "pat" the sofa, therefore we took the pat out. We had to make sure when moving the camera to different positions that the actors stayed in the same positions too.

Scene 14, 7 and 13 were shot on this day. We had to film these during the evening as the location had many big windows and windows in the ceilings which we couldn't cover. Continuity had to be correct in these scenes so we shot the whole scene from every position. We placed a pro light in the opposite corner to where Lily was sitting as this gave the right effect as well as having the room ceiling lights on.
As we had shot in this room before, we used from our past experiences where was best to place the lighting. Camilla and Danah had planned before this day where exactly the camera needed to go so the shooting was quick and successful.
9th March 2010
We had to re-shoot scene 8 of the girl lying in bed as when we went to log the scene we found that we had major continuity issues and our actress cut her hair a lot shorter. As we had done this scene before, all the shooting was very quick as the windows just needed blacking out, only a lamp was used for lighting and our actress knew exactly what to do.
This was our last bit of filming so we can now proceed to editing our film.
