When editing, I made a diary of every big issue we had.
We logged all of the shots using Adobe Premiere Pro and Microsoft Word. This helped us when we came to capture shots as we knew exactly which ones we needed and which ones we didn't want to use.
After logging all the shots, we captured only the ones we wanted and put them onto the timeline.
Editing - Day one
We had an issue when filming as one of our actors, Stephanie Chandler, who plays Lily, cut her hair. As we didn’t film in order day wise, we noticed when editing that her hair when short to long to short again throughout our film.
We cut shots in scene four right down as we had to make continuity was correct and the shots weren’t giving anymore emphasis to the storyline so we decided to cut them down. With continuity it was when Lily was looking up and down and when she picked up her pencil case that we had to make sure that it all flowed.
Scene six we used blue lighting to give a cold atmosphere for Leon. When Lily and her mother are together, we used an orange gel to give a sense of warmth.
While we were editing Zak Green said that Leon (Josh) sounded “like the kid from Adulthood”.
Before we starting shooting we had a change of location as we were meant to borrow a friends house to film in, but as he had strange working hours, that weren’t always the same, we couldn’t film there. So we decided to use two of our houses as we knew when we could use them and when it was going to be quietest.
In scenes 11 and 13, we had big problems with the microphone as it kept cutting in and out. So we had to deal with this in editing which we merged sound from shots that we did have sound. In most of the shots we filmed, we filmed the whole scene therefore had the sound for the argument and speech which we extended into the shots that didn’t have sound.

Editing - Day two
We started today with the film lasting around 8 and a half minutes. Today was the day that we took time of shots that we thought weren’t necessary as they wouldn’t give any emphasis. With scene 10, again, we had sound issues between the shot reverse shot. We overlapped the sound from scene 10 shot 1 with scene 10 shot 3. We took out bit of the shot where the mother opens the dishwasher. With scene 10 we muddled around with the order of shots to see which looked better. We deleted scene 10 shot 4 of the close up of Leon’s face as there was no speech and the speech couldn’t be found from another place.
In scene 13 we tried to add on “Just f***ing leave it” from a previous scene so that the argument sounded like it had properly ended. Unfortunately the tone of Leon’s voice didn’t fit in with what he sounded like in scene 13.
We deleted scene 10.3 as there was bad lip sync.

Day three
On scene 3.2 we added a DeNoiser and DeCrackler to reduce the interference. With the sound levels we had to dim up at the beginning of the shot then reduce it back down so that the sound all merged together. We added on ‘bars and tone’ so that we could set our sound levels.
On scene 4 shot 1 we added a DeNoiser and a DeCrackler for a softer tone which didn’t make a huge difference but was worth while. We tried a DeEsser and a DeHummer but decided against using them as it wasn’t beneficial.
We got rid of the sound in scene 4 shot 3 and expanded the scene 4 shot 4 sound to overlap the previous shot. We also added a DeNoiser and a DeCrackler to these shots as there was no dialogue so it reduced the interference.
We took out the whole of scene 6 as it was unnecessary to be a part of the film.
The conversation on the actual screen where Hollyoaks was playing didn’t have the right continuity but we said that it could be a change of scene on the screen.
We move shots further across the timeline to give a bigger gap when there was overnight time changes.
In between scene 5 and 7 there is a black gap on the video to show the time difference of Lily walking down the stairs. In this scene we also changed the options on the sound levels to;Threshold = 0 %
Reduction = 20dB
Offset = 10dB
We then lowered the sound levels in the bit where Leon says “F*** off” and then shuts the door as the door slamming was too loud.
On scene 8 shot 2 we put on the DeCrackler and DeNoiser again to reduce interference.
We changed the cross dissolve in scene 8 to 9 to a hard cut as it was the same day.

Day four
Scene 3 shot 2 when Leon is running down the stairs, we lowered the sound levels here as Leon’s footsteps were really loud. We put the sound levels down as he was coming down the stairs but raised them again after he had finished coming down the stairs.
In scene 5 where the music was layered we needed to lower it so that the speech could be heard. After the speech we raised the music back up again.
We layered the argument in scene 13 so that it could be heard more, although we took out the sound in scene 13 shot 2 as it wasn’t good sound and we didn’t need it.

Day five
When we got to the editing suite today, some of our scenes had been taken off of our timeline. Scene 4 wouldn’t play through even after rendering so we had to recapture and re-add the sound for scene 4.
We then went on to sort out the majority of sound levels. Scene 11 shot 2 we lowered the sound level for Josh coming out of the kitchen. In scene 13 the sound seemed to have disappeared so we had to re-add the sound. We then lowered this scenes sound levels to fit in with the rest of the film but the dialogue in this scene wasn’t long enough. A shot went missing on scene 14 so we had to re-add the visual and audio parts. We had to lower the sound levels in scene 15 for a silent effect and lowered them again on 17.1 as it was too loud. We raised the sound levels on 17.2 as we couldn’t hear the TV but lowered them again as the door shutting was too loud.
For the soundtrack for the titles we had to mark on the track every beat so that every time a name/title came up it was with the beat so that it all flowed. We used cross dissolves on the beats.
We added the titles on at the start and used a cross dissolve at the beginning and end of them.

Last day
We decided as a group that we would have longer cross dissolves if the day was ending, and have quicker cross dissolves when there was a time change between morning and evening. We used hard cuts between normal shots that just carried on in the same time frame.
Today we put the titles and credits onto the timeline. The titles had to be in the same position so they all looked the same. We did this by using a previous title layout.
The font size used was 55 and Tahoma was used for the capital letters and Trajan Pro for the names of people.
We used the codes and conventions and used a black background with white writing.

We logged all of the shots using Adobe Premiere Pro and Microsoft Word. This helped us when we came to capture shots as we knew exactly which ones we needed and which ones we didn't want to use.
